Our EYFS workshops are designed for curious 3–5 year olds who learn best by touching, exploring and creating. Every session is hands-on, sensory-rich and carefully structured around the 7 Areas of Learning, but delivered in a way that feels like pure fun to the children.
How it works
Every session is fully tailored to your class and your current topic. We arrive with all materials, tools and protective equipment ready to go. Children work at their own pace in a supported, playful environment. Every child leaves with something they made themselves, and that pride on their face is worth everything.
Sessions can be:
- Half day: one or two craft activities, perfect for a special themed day
- Full day: a full creative enrichment day with multiple makes
- Enrichment week: we work across your whole school over several days
- One-off special events: World Book Day, Science Week, cultural celebrations and more
EYFS Craft Workshops
All activities can be adapted to your current topic, season or theme. This is not a fixed menu, it is a starting point.

Communication and language
Story Stone Painting
Children paint characters, animals or scenes onto smooth stones, which become props for retelling stories. Supports narrative sequencing, vocabulary building and imaginative play. Stones go home as a storytelling toolkit for families to use together.
Paper Bag Puppets
Children design and make their own character puppet using paper bags, fabric scraps and paint. Puppets are used for simple performances or retelling a favourite story. Brilliant for shy children who find it easier to speak through a character.
Simple Bookmaking
Folded paper books that children fill with drawings and early mark-making. Can be themed to your current story focus. Supports early writing, left-to-right orientation and illustration.
Collage Scenes
Children create scenes using torn paper, fabric and natural materials while narrating what they are making. Rich opportunity for practitioner-led questioning and vocabulary extension.
Physical development
Threading and Bead Work
Children thread wooden beads onto laces in patterns of their choosing. Develops the pincer grip essential for early writing. Can be extended to making friendship bracelets.
Binca Cross Stitch
Large-holed binca fabric with chunky plastic needles and thick yarn. One of the best fine motor activities available, children feel enormous pride completing even a simple design.
Simple Sewing Cards
Pre-punched card shapes that children sew around with laces. Builds hand-eye coordination, concentration and following a sequence.
Clay Pinch Pots
Rolling, pressing, pinching and smoothing air dry clay builds significant hand strength. Children make small pots or tiles pressing in objects to create texture.
Wax Crayon Shaving Art
Children safely grate wax crayons to create coloured shavings, arrange them into butterfly or leaf shapes, fold paper over and watch the magic happen as heat fuses the colours. Grating develops grip and hand strength. The reveal moment is genuinely magical.
Weaving on Cardboard Looms
Simple over-under weaving using thick yarn on a cardboard frame. Builds bilateral coordination, concentration and pattern understanding.
Personal, social and emotional development
Friendship Bracelet Weaving
Children make a bracelet to give to a friend or family member. Making something for someone else builds empathy, generosity and pride in their work.
Stone Painting
Painting smooth stones with simple designs, faces, animals, and kindness rocks. Calm, absorbing and deeply satisfying. Brilliant for anxious children or those who struggle to settle.
Collaborative Group Printing
The whole class contributes to one large printed artwork; everyone's mark matters, no one's is wrong. Builds belonging and community. Beautifully displayed in the classroom or corridor. Any theme, style or wording can be facilitated.
Child-Led Making Sessions
In every workshop, children make their own choices, colours, patterns, and designs. This autonomy builds confidence and self-esteem. We celebrate every single piece, however it turns out.
Lititeracy
Story Stone Painting
Directly supports narrative sequencing, character recognition and retelling.
Bookmaking
Children create their own books linked to any story you are studying. Supports understanding of book structure, mark making and early writing.
Clay Name Tiles
Children press letter stamps into clay to write their name or simple words. Seeing their name in a material feels special, brilliant for children still learning letter formation.
Paper Bag Puppets
Character creation supports understanding of story, role and narrative.
Mathematics
Mosaic with Paper Squares
Children sort, count and arrange coloured paper squares into patterns and pictures. Covers colour sorting, counting, spatial awareness and pattern making all in one activity.
Bead Threading Patterns
Creating repeating patterns with beads, AB, AAB, ABC sequences. Hands-on, immediate and deeply satisfying when the pattern works.
Shape Printing with Sponges and Vegetables
Cut sponges or vegetables into 2D shapes. Children identify, name and print with them, creating pattern compositions.
Paper Plate Weaving
Over, under, over, under, weaving is essentially applied mathematics. Children count threads, follow sequences and create radial patterns.
Printing Pattern Sequences
Using rollers, sponges or found objects, children create repeating print patterns, exploring what comes next in a sequence.
Understanding the world
Nature Collage
Children collect natural materials and arrange them into seasonal scenes. Links to living things, seasons and the natural world.
Leaf Rubbings
Place leaves under paper, rub with wax crayons and watch the detail appear. Develops observation skills and understanding of natural patterns.
Pressed Flower Pictures
Collecting, pressing and arranging flowers into framed compositions. Links to plants, growth, seasons and the life cycle.
Vegetable Printing
Cut open a pepper, potato, carrot or celery stick, and each reveals a completely different print. Links to food, growing and where things come from. Children are always surprised by what is inside each vegetable.
Salt Dough Imprint Tiles
Rolling and pressing objects into salt dough to create textured tiles. Links to past and present — how things were made before machines. Also brilliant for a fossils or science topic.
Wax Crayon Shaving Art
Exploring what heat does to wax, a simple introduction to materials science and change. Children observe, predict and are surprised by the outcome.
Expressive arts and design
Spin Art
Paint dropped onto spinning paper creates unpredictable, joyful patterns. Pure expressive fun, no wrong answers, always beautiful results. Brilliant for children anxious about getting it right.
Watercolour Resist
Draw with white wax crayon first, nothing seems to happen. Paint over with watercolour and a hidden picture magically appears. The reveal moment never gets old.
Tie Dye
Simple rubber band resists dyeing. Children make choices, apply rubber bands and are always thrilled by the unpredictable results. Can be done on tote bags, fabric squares or socks.
Finger Painting
Direct contact with paint is deeply sensory and expressive for this age group. Can be structured around a theme or completely free.
Blow Painting
Drop paint onto paper and blow through a straw to create abstract branching patterns, perfect for trees, fireworks and abstract expression.
Fabric Dyeing
Using food or natural food dye colouring to colour fabric pieces. Children observe colour mixing as dyes spread and blend.
Wax Crayon Shaving Art
Perhaps the most purely expressive craft on this list. Children arrange colours, fold and press, the result is always uniquely theirs and always beautiful.
Collage
Tearing, cutting, layering and sticking. Tissue paper, magazine pages, fabric, natural materials, and children compose their own pictures with complete freedom.
